Nurses provide care to Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) patients within a mixed neurology and neurosurgery inpatient unit. The unit did not have an efficient and standardized tool to test patients periictally (during seizures). This poster proposes the use of a mnemonic based assessment tool called the "ICTAL" tool to improve the practice and efficacy of assessing patients' cognitive, sensory, behavioural and motor functions ictally to improve and enhance patient care outcomes in the EMU.
